Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Building Security Manager works to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the Building Security Department. The Building Security Manager oversees a team of full-time and part-time staff on a day-to-day basis and is ultimately responsible to the Director of Xperience Management. The Building Security Manager is also responsible as the designated Manager on Duty for various arena events working on behalf of the Xperience Management Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, directs, schedules, and manages the staff and operations of the Building Security Department to provide security for day-to-day tasks in a manner which ensures the safety of the public and protection of assets.
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of proprietary and contract security officers to ensure all personnel are knowledgeable of arena policies and procedures, as well as able to provide excellent customer service to visitors and staff.
  • Ensures that all security staff are properly trained in emergency procedures and maintain an ongoing training/retraining program in order to maintain a high level of competence.
  • Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of all security systems for the building.
  • Proactively assists senior management in identifying and assessing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, risks, vulnerabilities, and threats to the arena.
  • Oversees the thorough investigation and reporting of all security related incidents and ensures that all matters are duly communicated to management in a timely manner.
  • Works in partnership with the Salt Lake City Police Department and other law enforcement agencies on matters of safety and security as they relate to the arena.
  • Creates summaries, narratives, and metrics to aid in decision making and measure the effectiveness of the security operations.
  • Serves as the designated Manager on Duty on behalf of the Xperience Management Department for various arena events overseeing all security and guest experience operations of the event.
  • Operate with an emphasis on safety for employees, teams, and guests.
  • Protect the reputation of the company.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Utah driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or Security Management or a minimum of five years’ experience in security, law enforcement, or related field.
  • Experience conducting investigations including criminal and/or safety incidents.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships among several groups and deliver the highest level of satisfaction.
  • Solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Ability to analyze problems, determine root causes, and identify and determine results-oriented solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management ability.
  • Must be knowledgeable and literate with computers and have sound experience with security technologies including CCTV, Access Control, Incident Management Systems, and surveillance equipment.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules and perform operational duties in an emergency.
  • Must be able to remain calm and focused in highly stressful situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time
  • This person must be able to lift 25 lbs.
