Job Description

Position Title: Material Handler - 1st Shift
Department: Manufacturing & Distribution - General Labor
Employment Type Full Time
Location: Henderson, TN
Workplace Type: Onsite
Reporting To: Onsite
Compensation: $20.69 / hour
Material Handler - 1st Shift
The Material Handler is responsible for safely transporting, staging, and organizing raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods throughout the facility to support continuous production flow in a metal stamping environment. This role ensures accurate counts, timely movement of materials, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.



How You Will Help



Material Movement & Staging
  • Transport raw materials, coils, components, and WIP to and from stamping presses and production areas.
  • Stage materials based on daily production schedules and priority lists.
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and protected from damage.

Inventory & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate counts of incoming, outgoing, and staged materials.
  • Complete required paperwork or electronic transactions (scanning, tagging, inventory adjustments, etc.).
  • Communicate material shortages, overages, or discrepancies to supervisors.

Production Support
  • Remove scrap, empty bins, and deliver containers to appropriate collection points.
  • Assist with coil changes, die setups, and material loading when required.
  • Ensure parts and materials are available at the right place and time to prevent production delays.

Equipment Operation
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and report any issues immediately.
  • Follow all plant safety protocols, load limits, and equipment rules.

Shipping & Receiving (as needed)
  • Assist with unloading incoming deliveries and verifying counts.
  • Help prepare outbound shipments, including palletizing, wrapping, and labeling.
  • Coordinate with the Shipping/Receiving team to maintain organized dock and warehouse areas.

Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all OSHA, plant safety, and material-handling procedures.
  • Use required PPE (eye protection, gloves, steel-toed boots, etc.).
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged materials, or near-miss incidents.
  • Maintain clean and clutter-free work areas to support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Bring



Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of material handling experience in a manufacturing or metal stamping environment preferred.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to read work orders, production schedules, and material labels.
  • Basic computer or scanner experience (inventory or ERP systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, bend, and twist for extended periods.
  • Work in environments with noise, heat, moving machinery, and metal surfaces.
