What You'll Do

No two days look the same in urgent care, and that's exactly the point. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to deliver efficient, patient-centered care from intake to discharge. Your responsibilities will include:

• Welcoming patients, verifying identity, gathering medical histories, documenting chief complaints, and preparing them for examination
• Obtaining and recording vital signs, height, weight, vision screening, pulse oximetry, and other clinical measurements
• Assisting clinicians with examinations, treatments, and office procedures
• Administering medications, vaccinations, and injections per clinician orders and clinic policy
• Performing venipuncture, capillary blood collection, specimen collection, processing, and preparation for laboratory testing
• Conducting CLIA-waived point-of-care testing — COVID-19, influenza, strep, urinalysis, pregnancy, blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c, and more
• Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs) and other directed diagnostic testing
• Assisting with wound care, dressing changes, suture and staple removal, splint application, and orthopedic supplies
• Preparing and maintaining clean, fully stocked examination and procedure rooms
• Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment and treatment areas per OSHA, CDC, and infection prevention guidelines
• Accurately documenting patient care, treatments, medications, and provider instructions in the EHR
• Coordinating lab specimens, imaging orders, referrals, prescriptions, and follow-up care
• Educating patients on medications, discharge instructions, home care, and follow-up recommendations as directed
• Monitoring inventory, stocking exam rooms, and assisting with supply ordering and maintenance
• Maintaining strict patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and all clinic policies
• Pitching in with front office duties as needed — scheduling, phones, registration, insurance verification, and payment collection
• Responding appropriately during medical emergencies and supporting providers with emergency equipment and patient stabilization
• Participating in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and continuing education

What We're Looking For

You're organized, adaptable, and genuinely care about the people in your care. You bring:

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred), or equivalent clinical experience
• At least 1 year of experience in urgent care, an emergency department, family medicine, internal medicine, or occupational health (preferred)
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• The ability to multitask and stay composed when the pace picks up
• Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accurate documentation
• Basic computer proficiency, including experience with EHR systems and Microsoft Office

Bonus points if you have:

• Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, EKGs, point-of-care lab testing, immunizations, and medication administration
• Familiarity with CLIA-waived laboratory testing requirements
• Experience with platforms like Athenahealth, Epic, eClinicalWorks, or similar EHR systems
