Job Description
Position Summary
The HR Coordinator provides administrative support to the Human Resources department and assists in executing HR programs and initiatives. This role ensures the smooth and effective functioning of HR operations by coordinating processes related to recruitment, onboarding, employee records, compliance, and employee engagement.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Post job openings and manage applicant tracking systems.
- Schedule interviews and communicate with candidates.
- Coordinate pre-employment screenings and background checks.
- Prepare new hire documentation and facilitate onboarding process.
- Ensure completion of new hire paperwork and I-9 verifications.
HR Administration and Recordkeeping
- Maintain and update employee records and personnel files.
- Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of HRIS data.
- Track and manage employee leaves of absence and FMLA requests.
- Assist with benefits administration, including open enrollment.
- Respond to employee questions about HR policies and procedures.
Compliance & Reporting
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support the preparation of EEO, ACA, and other regulatory reports.
- Participate in audits by preparing required documents and summaries.
General Support
- Provide administrative support to HR leadership.
- Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Maintain HR-related supplies and materials.
Qualifications
- Maintains strict confidentiality and handles sensitive information with professionalism.
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
- Exhibits a service-oriented approach and a positive attitude toward team collaboration.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of experience in an HR support role preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
