Urban Workshop Adult Instructors are experts in their subject matter. They are passionate and outgoing personalities that are eager to teach, energetic, motivated to learn, and are dedicated to continuous improvement. Our instructors teach basic use in addition to the application of industrial machinery in a wide variety of specialties, as well as safety, etiquette, and responsibility. This is your opportunity to share your expertise with others that are eager to learn and thirsty for more. You will get immediate feedback from students that are thrilled to be taking the best shop classes available with you.

Our mission is to make short-duration focused education with shared access to tools in a supportive environment the preferred method for visionary individuals to get what they need to go out and change the world. Competencies
The ideal candidate will have teaching experience, good interpersonal skills, and work well with many different kinds of students. S/he must be available during some weekday days and have a flexible schedule. Teaching hours will typically range from 12 - 20 hours per month. Instructors must be experts in the topic they wish to teach and be able to show product examples and/or credentials.
- Must have extensive working knowledge of the subject they wish to teach
- Must be cool, enthusiastic, and the type of person who enjoys other people
- Inspire and encourage students
- Teach / demonstrate shop rules, etiquette, clean up / organization, check out procedures
- Must present a professional image, be courteous and organized, and reliable
- Start and end class on time and teach prescribed content
- Inform shop or management team of any equipment, materials, or documentation issues
- Manage class paperwork (student / teacher evaluations, student pass / fail)
Teaching Responsibilities
- Start each class fully prepared and on time with fantastic energy
- End class once each student has achieved success then clean up and store materials with consideration to the next class and teacher.
- Teach class content as directed but always be looking for ways to improve it
- Teach and demonstrate Urban Workshop safety rules, policies, and etiquette
- Inspire and encourage Urban Workshop members, students, and each other
- Promote Urban Workshop special offers and up sells at the end of class
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business field, or equivalent work experience
· At least 3 years work experience in accounting, book keeping, or working directly with clients

Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds- including materials, equipment, and projects. Also has the mobility and strength required to push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs,, reach overhead and stoop comfortably when situations require
· Ability to stand and walk continuously for a minimum of 4 hours at a time on concrete shop floors.
· Capable of safely operating power tools, hand tools, and large machinery, including but not limited to saws, welders, sanders, drills, etc.
· Ability to demonstrate safe tool use and proper technique while maintaining student visibility and supervision.
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination sufficient to guide students in small motor tasks (e.g. wiring, soldering, precision cutting).
· Comfortable working in outdoor environments for specific classes or equipment
