Job Description
As a Patient Care Technician, you will be an essential part of the patient care team at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Inc., working specifically in the 1 West 106 department. Your role involves performing a range of direct and indirect patient care functions, always under the supervision of licensed personnel. You will assist patients with their personal care needs and actively participate in developing and implementing their plan of care. Additionally, you will collect test specimens as directed, ensuring accurate documentation of patient care activities and test results. This role also entails performing limited laboratory services, including patient identification, sample processing, quality control, and instrument maintenance. Throughout your interactions with patients and colleagues, you will maintain the highest level of confidentiality and respect, working collaboratively as part of the care team to meet customer needs and support team objectives.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel.
- Assist patients with personal care needs and participate in their plan of care.
- Collect test specimens and document patient care activities and test results.
- Perform limited laboratory services, including patient identification and sample processing.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively as part of the care team to meet customer needs and support team objectives.
- Demonstrate flexibility, set priorities, solve problems, and use good judgment in challenging situations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Attend regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures, including infection control guidelines.
Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training is mandatory within 1 year of hire or by 10/31/25 for existing employees.
- Ability to speak and write English fluently is essential.
- Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not mandatory.
- At least 8 weeks of Patient Care education or direct patient care experience is required.
- Enrolled in a nursing school or physician assistant program is an alternative to the experience requirement.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members are crucial.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided upon hire.
