Wastewater Treatment Operator - Industrial Wastewater Treatment Technician Elkin, NC

ProChem is hiring a responsible, safety-minded and self-motivated Wastewater Treatment Operator to operate and maintain a comprehensive industrial wastewater treatment and reuse system at our customer's facility in Elkin, North Carolina. What You Will Do
- Operate and monitor industrial wastewater treatmetn and water reuse systems according to standard operating procedures
- Perform regular equipment rounds, system chcks, and data recording
- Collect water samples for testing and suport process control activities
- Respond to ssystem alarms and troubleshoot operational issues
- Change membranes, calibrate instruments, replace filters, and suppor tpreventive and corrective maintenance
- Load, unload, and organize stock items such as chemicals and filters using a forklift
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow safety, PPE, quality control, ISO, EPA, and site-specific procedures
- Provide professional, courteous support to the customer and work with a solutions-focused mindset
- Maintain professional and technical knoledge through training, certificatoins, company events, and industry resources
What We Are Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Reliable commute to the work locatien in Elkin, NC required
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOP), and safety requirements
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and willingness to learn technical processes
- Mechanical ability preferred
- Experience in an industrial setting preferred
- Experience wih chemical handling (corrosives), pumps, fluid handling equipment, electrical systems such as controls or instrumentation preferred
- Knowledge of wastewater or water smapling procedurs preferred
- Abilty to read and interpret P&ID drawings preferred
- Experience with DAF units, ring clarifiers, belt presses, membrane filtration or sand filtration preferred
- North Carolina Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator license preferred
Schedule
This position works 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week. The system operates 12-hours per day, 7 days per week with the support of 2 other Technicians. Overtime is avaialable for shift coverage to support the entire team (covering for vacations and sick days). Flexibility with work hours, vacation, and scheduling is required to meet operational needs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This role includes indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions and may involve exposure to machinery noise, odors, hazardous chemicals, electricity, water, plumbing equipment, and wastewater treatment systems/equipment. The position requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, lifing, and ladder work. Candidates must be able to list up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds regularly.
