POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Sports & Recreation, the Sports Coordinator supports the planning and delivery of sports programs, seasonal activities, and community events. This position maintains athletic equipment and facilities, coordinates program logistics, and helps provide safe, engaging experiences for participants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Act as liaison between YMCA and participants for athletic programs (i.e. communication, scheduling changes, mailings, etc.)
- Oversee evening and weekend athletic programming.
- Distribute equipment and information to coaches and participants as needed.
- Assist the Sports and Recreation Director in the preparation of teams, schedules, clinics, camps, and special events.
- Attend and assist with participant, staff, or organizational meetings as required.
- Assist the Sports and Recreation Director in the applicant recruitment process.
- Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
- Act as referee for multiple YMCA sports leagues.
- Perform field maintenance and set up equipment for games as needed.
- All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recreation, parks, outdoor programming, special events or related programming
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift equipment and perform moderate physical labor.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends. A consistent schedule will be established based on the needs of the business.

- Work will be performed indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel
- Must have visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to respond swiftly in an emergency.
- Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30ft
- Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform position functions
- Must be able to coordinate a variety of large and small tasks simultaneously
- Must be able to handle stress and tension in a positive manner
- Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
- Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, carrying, working in narrow and confining spaces that may be underground, overhead or at ground level. Twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs and lying on the stomach and back.
