Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack (Zero to One Labs)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack (Zero to One Labs) based in the United States.

This is a high-impact, innovation-driven engineering role inside a fast-moving “zero-to-one” lab focused on building and validating entirely new product ideas from scratch. You will join a small, highly autonomous, AI-native team where speed of execution, experimentation, and learning are central to the mission. The role blends backend and frontend engineering with strong product thinking, requiring you to rapidly prototype, test hypotheses, and iterate based on real-world signals. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and senior stakeholders to shape early-stage ideas into functional systems and scalable solutions. With AI embedded across the development lifecycle, you will leverage modern tooling, agentic workflows, and automation to accelerate delivery. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building 0→1 products, and wants direct influence on strategic product direction.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, build, and iterate on full-stack applications and backend systems that support rapid experimentation and product validation.
  • Lead technical execution within quarterly goals, driving delivery through ambiguity and ensuring alignment with product outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and analysts to define hypotheses, technical approaches, and trade-offs for new ideas.
  • Develop AI-enabled prototypes quickly, using modern tools, agentic workflows, and automation to accelerate experimentation cycles.
  • Build scalable, production-ready systems when validated concepts progress beyond early experimentation stages.
  • Identify technical, product, or process challenges early and take ownership in driving solutions across teams.
  • Support system reliability and operational health through monitoring, metrics, and on-call or “keep-the-lights-on” responsibilities.
  • Establish and promote engineering best practices, including code quality, design standards, and review processes.
  • Contribute to a culture of ownership by mentoring peers, sharing feedback, and supporting team growth.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience as a software engineer working on backend and full-stack systems.
  • Strong experience building and scaling backend services using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience developing frontend applications using modern frameworks such as React or Vue.
  • Proven ability to design and deliver technical solutions for complex systems with a focus on simplicity, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools, agentic coding workflows, and automation to accelerate development and prototyping.
  • Strong ability to navigate large codebases and safely implement significant system changes.
  • Experience taking ownership of technical execution and proactively driving feedback and improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across distributed engineering and product teams.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary: $153,000 – $213,000 CAD equivalent range (depending on location and experience)
  • Equity compensation as part of the total reward package
  • Remote-first work environment with flexibility across eligible regions
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage fully or heavily subsidized
  • Generous stipends for technology, wellness, and lifestyle needs
  • Flexible paid time off and holiday schedule to support work-life balance
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) with discounted stock access
  • Opportunity to work on early-stage, high-impact product innovation initiatives
  • Strong engineering culture focused on experimentation, ownership, and learning
