Job Description

If so, we invite you to bring your skills to Pierce Transit as an ADA Eligibility Analyst.
In this role, you will review applications, documentation, and completed ADA assessments to determine eligibility for paratransit services in accordance with established ADA requirements and Pierce Transit policies. You will interpret assessment results, apply eligibility criteria consistently and objectively, communicate determinations clearly, and provide information about alternative transportation resources when appropriate.
Success in this position requires strong analytical skills, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to apply established eligibility requirements consistently while providing respectful and professional customer service.

All of Pierce Transit are required to participate in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Pierce Transit offers two Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) plans to choose from, PERS2 and PERS3, as well as a matching program for 457 deferred compensation.
Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.
Pierce Transit provides an ORCA Card benefit for each employee and a family member. This benefit provides free access to service on Pierce Transit, Sound Transit, Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, Kitsap Transit, Seattle Monorail, Seattle Streetcar, King County Water Taxi and Kitsap Foot Ferry.
PAID LEAVE:
Full-time Pierce Transit employees are eligible to receive 11 paid holidays, 2 personal paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, and 12 vacation days per year. Part-time employees, receive pro-rated leave, to include sick leave, vacation, personal holiday and holiday pay. Vacation leave accrual rates increase per the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We may be able to help with reimbursing up to $2,500 in moving expenses for those who physically relocate their primary residence to the Pierce/King/Thurston County area (substantiated with receipts). The following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
- Reviews ADA eligibility applications and makes determination of eligibility within established periods and in accordance with ADA regulations and agency policy. Conducts Paratransit eligibility screening process including review of new and recertification of existing Paratransit eligibility applications; determine whether information provided is sufficient to determine eligibility, or identify additional information required to determine eligibility (i.e., In-Person Assessment, Functional Assessment of Cognitive Transit Skills, phone interviews and professional verification.
- Reviews, documents, and records pertinent eligibility information gathered from applicant, caregiver, vocational, educational and medical professional(s) during eligibility screening process.
- Analyzes medical terminology, medical conditions and/or disabilities as they correlate to physical or cognitive functional capacity through review of applicant records and in-person evaluation.
- Informs applicants of eligibility decisions and of the formal appeal process.
- Audits existing certification clients by analyzing ridership reports to determine client's functional abilities and ensure client's eligibility is correctly assigned.
- Responds to customer inquiries/complaints via phone, correspondence, email, and in person.
- Researches, creates and maintains questions relating to professional verification portion of ADA screening process.
- Assist with preparation of periodic/special narratives and statistical reports on eligibility trends for Paratransit services.
- Represents the agency for ADA Eligibility appeal hearings.
- Attends/participates in mandatory agency all employee meetings, division safety meetings, agency security awareness, and other agency-required trainings.
- Maintains department inventory of general operating supplies. Maintains records of annual expenditures.
- Verifies and processes department invoices for services and supplies from outside vendors.
- Represents Pierce Transit at public forums and Interagency Advisory Group meetings; develops and delivers presentations and supporting materials tailored to these audiences.
- Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field, and
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience working with people with disabilities or senior citizens, including disability services, mobility training, travel training, orientation training, or assessing and determining benefit eligibility.
- Relevant work experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Public sector experience desired.
- Experience in the transportation industry is preferred.
Individuals must pass a background check. Must possess and maintain a valid driver license.

The position involves sedentary work, such as exerting up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Involves sitting most of the time, with common physical demands involving desk or office related work.
Working Conditions
This position works in an office environment relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Frequent travel to locations within service territory for meetings and/or presentations.
