About the Cybersecurity Analyst - Operations role

Reporting to the Cybersecurity Manager, the Cybersecurity Analyst - Operations will play a key role in monitoring, detecting, investigating, and responding to security threats across the organization. This position is ideal for a security professional who enjoys hands-on security operation, threat hunting, incident response, and continuous improvement of security controls.
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead in detecting and analyzing security incidents, including attacks, breaches, and identified vulnerabilities, and remediate any security gaps in line with the security incident management procedure.
- Identify new external developments and/or emerging issues within an area of technology or business function and evaluate their potential impact on, or usefulness to, the organization.
- Ensure that business activities within area of responsibility comply with relevant external regulatory and/or voluntary codes and with internal policies and procedures to minimize business risk and to protect the reputation of the organization.
Technical stack
- Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Intune
- Should have knowledge of NIST CSF & Vulnerability management
What do you need to be successful?
- 3+ years of experience in Cybersecurity Operations, Security Engineering, SOC, or related security roles.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, including KQL development, analytics tuning, incident investigation, and automation.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Defender XDR, including Defender for Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, and Cloud Apps.
- Practical experience administering Microsoft Intune compliance policies, device configurations, and security baselines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Identity Protection, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
- Proven experience managing enterprise vulnerability management and remediation programs.
- Experience implementing or assessing controls aligned to NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, CIS Controls, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview, DLP, Information Protection, or data governance initiatives.
- Strong understanding of incident response processes, playbooks, and cyber resilience practices.
- Experience creating operational and executive dashboards using Power BI.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Would be an asset if you had:
- Security certifications such as Security+, CySA+, SC-200, SC-300, AZ-500, CISSP, GIAC, or equivalent.
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, or security automation.
- Threat hunting and MITRE ATT&CK experience.
- Experience leading incident response activities or tabletop exercises.
- Familiarity with Sentinel Workbooks and Power BI data modeling.

Work location:
- The Retail Operations Centre is located in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
- The successful candidate must be based in New Brunswick; a hybrid work arrangement is possible.
- Semi-regular travel for meetings and project work may be required.
Compensation information:
- $ 81,790 – $ 94,891
