Title: Medical Assistant

Summary:

Performs all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a specialty clinic setting, including primary responsibility of the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician.

Must be able to anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivates are especially important. Must be adaptable and versatile. Good attendance is an important element of this job.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling patients
  • Verifying Insurances
  • Adding referrals to EMR
  • Answering phones and voice mails
  • Chart prepping
  • Triaging patients
  • Standing ordres; EKG, Flochec, UA’s, Injections, etc.
  • Take manual blood pressure and heart rate with o2 finger monitor
  • Record findings in EMR; Chief Complaint and HPI
  • Reconciling medications
  • Prior Authorizations
  • Assisting other clinics when needed, including traveling
  • Stock Patient Rooms
  • Cleaning Patient Rooms; remove trash, apply disinfectant, wipe all areas, stock supplies, apply paper bedding
  • Remove all Hazard/Sharps Containers or Trash Cans
  • Keeping Refrigerator/Sample Logs
Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA and CLIA standards, office procedures and protocols
  • Organized, energetic and able to work in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Exhibits compassion, dedication to quality and strong work ethics
  • Highly attentive to details
  • Able to travel between all locations within and outside of PPG Health (percentage up to 50%)
  • Able to keep a clean and organized workplace
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Knowledge of EMR systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to collect and prepare blood samples for laboratory testing and give injections
