Job Description

About the Role:
If you have a passion for food and a talent for leading a kitchen, Tailwind wants you on the team! We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef to help lead our airport dining operation, where every shift brings a diverse, high-volume guest experience unlike any other environment in the industry. As Sous Chef, you will oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food while leading by example for the prep cooks and line cooks on your team. You will play a key role in maintaining our high standards of quality and safety, keeping the kitchen running efficiently, and ensuring every traveler we serve has a positive experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the kitchen during scheduled shifts while working alongside the team to ensure success in all areas
  • Uphold all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs set forth by Tailwind
  • Resolve customer complaints and concerns to ensure a positive guest experience
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
  • Fill in wherever needed to meet service standards and keep operations running efficiently
  • Report to work punctually and ensure all meals are prepared to restaurant standards and Tailwind policies
  • Ensure equipment is maintained per the restaurant safety and preventive maintenance program
  • Provide guidance to coworkers with an encouraging, supportive attitude
  • Train kitchen staff within company and location-specific guidelines
  • Track inventory levels of food supplies and kitchen utensils, and ensure all ingredients and equipment are properly stored
  • Monitor customer feedback and address any concerns regarding food quality or service
  • Collaborate with cooks and management to adjust menu items as needed
  • Treat both hourly employees and members of the management team with professionalism and respect
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead by example
  • Ability to identify conflicts and develop effective solutions
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and the ability to maintain sanitary working conditions
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to multitask, stay flexible, and be cross-trained
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and handle 50+ pound objects, with normal mobility for reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for chopping and handling food and tools

Requirements:

  • Must hold proper licenses, including but not limited to Food Handlers Certification
  • Must be able to pass a background check to receive an airport badge
  • Must have reliable transportation and be punctual
  • Availability to work some weekends, evenings, and holidays
