The CAD/CAM Programmer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programming solutions while supporting efficient and accurate manufacturing operations. This role combines technical programming skills with practical machining knowledge to improve production processes.
- Use CAD/CAM software such as Autodesk Fusion and related tools to perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and optimize customer designs for efficient production.
- Analyze customer models and determine effective machining strategies, including tool selection, cutting parameters, feeds, speeds, and operation sequencing.
- Create, refine, simulate, and validate CAM programs for 3+2 and 5-axis CNC machining operations.
- Develop effective fixturing and tabbing strategies to ensure part stability and machining accuracy.
- Monitor production orders, troubleshoot machining and programming issues, and help ensure finished components meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to improve workflows and continuously enhance machining processes.
- Apply AI-assisted CAM tools and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and automation.
- Provide feedback and recommendations that improve programming standards, manufacturing methods, and operational performance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in CNC machining and CAD/CAM programming, with the ability to analyze designs, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to process improvements.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles and their application in CNC machining.
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming, machining processes, tooling selection, feeds, and speeds.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently troubleshoot technical challenges.
- Comfort working hands-on with mechanical equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with CNC milling, including 3-axis, 3+2, or 5-axis machining preferred.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Fusion and AI-assisted CAM tools preferred.
- Experience validating CAM programs through simulation, testing, and production trials.
- Familiarity with G-code, M-code, and other CNC programming languages is a plus.
- Ability to modify and improve programs based on production requirements and design changes.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to communicate effectively with remote and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working around industrial equipment.
- Competitive hourly compensation ranging from $24–$54/hour.
