Diesel Technician / Heavy Equipment Service Technician

Safe Industries is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician, Heavy Truck Mechanic, or Service Technician to perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on fire apparatus, emergency response vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and specialty equipment. What You'll Do:
As a Diesel Service Technician, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty emergency vehicles and equipment to ensure peak performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on:
* Fire apparatus
* Diesel-powered trucks
* Emergency response vehicles
* Specialty equipment and systems
Diagnose and repair:
* Diesel engines
* Drivetrain and suspension systems
* Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
* Electrical and multiplex systems
* Water pumps and auxiliary equipment
* Complete preventive maintenance (PM) services and fleet inspections
* Use OEM diagnostic software, scan tools, and testing equipment to efficiently identify and resolve issues
* Accurately document repairs, labor hours, and service recommendations using digital work order systems
* Conduct quality control inspections to ensure repairs are completed right the first time
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
* Communicate repair status and recommendations with service leadership and team members
* Participate in ongoing technical training, certification programs, and skill development initiatives
* Support shop productivity while delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
* Diesel repair
* Heavy truck repair
* Fleet maintenance
* Commercial vehicle service
* Equipment repair
* Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities with mechanical and electrical systems
* Experience using diagnostic software, OEM service information, and shop equipment
* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced service environment
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
* Ability to obtain a Class B CDL and required endorsements within the established timeframe
Preferred Qualifications:
* Current Class B CDL
Experience repairing:
* Fire trucks
* Emergency response vehicles
* Municipal fleets
* Heavy-duty diesel equipment
* ASE, EVT, OEM, Cummins, Allison, Detroit Diesel, or related technical certifications
* Experience with Hydraulics, Multiplex electrical systems, Advanced diagnostics, Pump systems, Air brake systems
Schedule:
* Full-Time
* Monday - Friday
* 5-Day Work Week
* Occasional travel required
