Description

The Light Duty Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gasoline and diesel-powered light-duty vehicles while delivering repairs that meet manufacturer specifications and Kerry Brothers' quality standards.

This position requires strong diagnostic abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently complete repairs while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance services including oil changes, filters, fluid services, and scheduled maintenanceDiagnose engine performance, drivability, and electrical concernsPerform brake system repairs and replacementsDiagnose and repair steering and suspension systemsReplace shocks, struts, control arms, ball joints, tie rods, and wheel bearingsDiagnose and repair cooling systemsRepair fuel delivery systemsDiagnose and repair charging and starting systemsPerform battery testing and replacementDiagnose and repair HVAC systemsPerform exhaust system repairsReplace timing components, water pumps, and accessory drive componentsPerform driveline repairs including U-joints, CV axles, differentials, and transfer casesDiagnose transmission concerns and perform minor transmission repairsPerform state inspections (where applicable)Utilize OEM and aftermarket diagnostic equipmentDocument repairs accurately in the shop management systemMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentCommunicate repair recommendations with service advisors

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

2+ years of automotive or light-duty repair experience preferredStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting skillsExperience using scan tools and diagnostic softwareKnowledge of gasoline and diesel engine systemsExperience with brake, suspension, steering, and electrical repairsValid driver's license with acceptable driving recordAbility to lift up to 75 poundsStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to work independently and within a team environmentBasic computer skills for documenting repairs

Preferred Qualifications

ASE CertificationsState of Michigan CertificationsDiesel engine experienceFleet maintenance experienceAir conditioning certification (EPA 609)CDL (or willingness to obtain)Welding or fabrication experienceExperience with Ford, GM, Ram, Isuzu, and medium-duty commercial vehicles
