Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE: Partner with the Special Needs Department and the Christ Presbyterian Church to support and execute ministry events and initiatives to further the spiritual discipleship of individuals with special needs and their families.
DIRECT REPORT: Director of Special Needs
SCHEDULE: Part-Time - Two days per week (Mon- Thurs) (9am - 3pm), Sunday (7:30 - 12:30), may vary with end time of Sunday
Rotating hours for Sunday evening Ascent event, Special Saturdays setup and event, and VsBS with increase in hours and days leading up to and during events
Position/Role Outcomes/Expectations
- Overall event responsibilities to oversee, recruit, pair, coordinate and train volunteers for children’s and adults’ respites (Special Saturday, Ascent, Summer Dance) and VBS for children with special needs (VsBS)
- Respite events occur monthly 6-8 times a year on Saturdays
- Bi-weekly adult Sunday evening programming
- Assist with set up and take down of all Special Needs Ministry events
- Summer VBS occurs in June with several weeks of prep leading up to the event
- Communicate information to families for registration, dates of events and orientation plan
- Collaborate with Communications team for promotion and design
- Prepare registration supplies, coordinate online registration, implement set-up plan and other modifications as needed to serve the individuals with special needs
- Recruit and train volunteers about specific responsibilities
- Responsible for all areas of the Ascent meal which is a bi-weekly Sunday evening programming event which includes other area churches
- Ensure setup is completed
- Coordinate all aspects of the event ensuring dinner and activities for the evening are planned and provided
- Responsible for all areas of Special Saturdays planning, set up, execution and clean up
- Includes creating the registration link monthly, managing the registration process holistically from start to finish
- Coordinating and implementing the Friday afternoon setup needs
- Ordering and planning for all needs of the event
- Ensure that the Special Needs Ministry fosters an environment that is safe, engaging and relational for participants and families.
- Includes addressing and being proactive about challenging behaviors that may occur.
- Maintain the compliance of the child protection policy including running background checks for volunteers serving in special needs ministry.
- Foster good communication and supportive relationships with individuals with special needs and their families.
- Address care needs within the Special Needs ministry (volunteers and families)
- Regularly communicate with parents/caregivers about how the ministry can best support their family member
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of technology needed for events in the ministry
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
Experience
- 1-3 years’ experience with special needs ministry preferred
- Event planning experience is valued

- Strong interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on a team environment
- Strong computer skills with emails, Google sheets, docs, slides and drive
Pursue an intimate relationship with the Lord including devotion, prayer and study
Requirements
All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the school, CPC Policies and Procedures Manual, CPC 101, and the Westminster Confession of Faith. All employees must be evangelical Christians and active members of an evangelical Christian church.
- Membership at Christ Presbyterian Church will be required.
