JOB SUMMARY
Assist in administering the DV RRH Program offered to diverse clients of InCourage including providing support and assistance to households experiencing homelessness and fleeing domestic abuse and supervision of DV RRH staff. Work with Executive Director on program and policy/procedure development. Supervised by Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, counseling, or related field
- Two years of experience working in supportive housing services
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and guide staff
- Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault desired.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Able to work independently and as a team, set priorities, and be flexible
- Able to be supportive and non-judgmental
- Able to help individuals explore options and strategies and problem solve their situations
- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Able to work with persons from diverse backgrounds and multiple issues whose lives are affected by abuse
- Excellent computer skills required include working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, and WINDOWS
- Valid driver's license and vehicle.
- Bi-lingual a plus
- Must be able to pass background check
HOURS
This can be a full time or part-time non-exempt position. Most working hours will be during regular business hours, however must be willing to work occasional evenings or weekends.
JOB DUTIES
- Supervise, evaluate, and mentor DV RRH staff
- Assist Executive Director in the employment and termination process of staff
- Enroll clients and help them find housing
- Perform intake and confirm eligibility.
- Assist clients in the RRH program in their housing search, including applying for apartments, negotiating with landlords, and accompanying participants to apartment viewings as needed.
- Provide clients with a listing of potential housing options in alignment with clients’ housing needs and geographic preferences.
- Assist client with acquiring the necessary documentation and mitigate issues with credit reports, utility arrears, and unfavorable landlord references as necessary.
- Arrange for and conduct inspections of housing and landlord corrective action.
- Determine rent reasonableness and Fair Market Rent for inspected units prior to rental assistance and lease approval.
- Explain and review the lease and sublease agreement with incoming clients.
- Assist households with acquisition of furniture and move-in essentials
- Educate clients and landlords on tenant/landlord rights, Fair Housing, and housing discrimination.
- Work with housed clients until completion of program
- Develop individual plans and monitor progress of clients in the DV RRH program, while providing case management. Refer clients to relevant programs in the community and at InCourage.
- Participate in an interdisciplinary approach to client problems, seeking out practical and innovative solutions to problems presented by working with other agencies to address issues commonly found among clients.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, staff, volunteers, and community members.
- Perform ongoing rental calculations while client is in the DV RRH Program.
- Perform annual assessment of service needs.
- Provide life skills training as needed
- Work with landlords
- Connect with landlords and property management companies and build positive relationships to expand InCourage’s landlord portfolio.
- Advocate with landlords for clients with rental barriers such as prior evictions, poor credit, and criminal history.
- Negotiate leases with landlords and clients.
- Coordinated Entry (CE)
- Participate in CE Case Conferencing, while maintaining confidentiality, to update status of clients in the process of being housed.
- Attend all required CE trainings and participate in CE meetings as requested.
- Represent the agency and program
- Represent the agency at housing-related meetings and manage relationships with other partners who serve individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Represent the program in various professional groups and potential collaborations.
- Participate in the semi-annual Point-In-Time count.
- Participate in outreach events as needed
- Maintain Agency client files consistent with Agency and DV RRH policy and procedures.
- Complete necessary paperwork and forms in a timely manner.
- Document services by entering data, statistical information and referrals in computer database Osnium.
- Document and retain copies of communications with landlords and tenants
- Provide Agency statistics and information for grants and reports.
- Attend staff meetings
- Work in a team approach to deliver programming.
- Maintain safety and security of clients, including compliance with the Non-Disclosure statutes and other confidentiality requirements.
- Other duties as assigned
