ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review drawings and choose the right starting product to modify into a new custom product, including one-off and intricate design elements.
- Create and modify custom products in Microvellum from established standard specifications.
- Assign materials correctly, with attention to thickness, board sizes, and grain/pattern direction.
- Assign machining for all applicable hardware, including hinges, pulls, drawer slides, grommets, access panels, and row holes.
- Produce organized nest drawings and CNC programs for the machine operator.
- Prepare release packages: cut lists, BOMs, and the information needed for programming, machining, and assembly.
- Troubleshoot G-code and machine error codes as they relate to the CNC program.
- Work directly with detail and shop floor personnel on manufacturing concerns, and carry what you learn back into products and process.
- Create 2D construction and shop drawings in AutoCAD that meet customer needs and applicable codes and regulations.
- Prepare approval drawings so key product information is signed off by the customer before release.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of Microvellum experience, or equivalent AutoCAD and cabinetry/millwork experience required. Experience building custom products or libraries is a strong plus.
- Comfort with complex, non-standard designs and the patience to work through them.
- Working knowledge of CNC machine operations and tooling selection. CNC programming experience is a plus.
- Millwork or woodworking shop or install experience is desired.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Clear written and verbal communication with both management and shop staff.
- Good judgment, integrity, and a sense of urgency about customer and company satisfaction.
- Regular attendance and alertness to safety issues.
- Mostly seated, up to 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. 6 days a week may be required depending on business need.
- Use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talking and hearing.
- Close vision, including reading very fine print.
