Job Description
We’re looking for someone enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the romance category to join our dynamic team at Forever, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing. The Editorial Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to an Executive Editor and a Senior Editor within the Forever team.
This position will be based in our New York office on a three-day-a-week hybrid schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform administrative duties, including meeting scheduling, mailings, expense reports, etc.
- Track schedules, deadlines, and deliverables for assigned projects and follow up with internal and external partners as needed.
- Enter title data into proprietary database system and update throughout the publishing process
- Prepare title fact sheets with key selling points and comparative titles
- Run weekly sales reports
- Traffic editorial projects through Production, Copyediting, and Marketing, and secure appropriate approvals.
- Prepare pre-acquisition materials, including profit-and-loss statements
- Read and report on manuscripts and proposals submitted for publication
- Communicate with authors and agents about general questions and updates
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Passion/interest in the romance category
- Strong organization/administrative ability and meticulous attention to detail.
- An ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Excellent writing skills, and the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings regardless of audience.
- Ability to anticipate tasks and take initiative to solve problems while taking ownership of situations as needed.
- Knowledge of MS Office programs
- Knowledge of social media

There may be times that you will be required (or requested) to work overtime due to the nature of your role or exceptional workload issues or special projects.
