Director of Retail Banking & Sales Strategy
US-PA-Souderton
Job ID: 6927
Type: Full Time
# of Openings: 1
Category: Consumer Banking
Univest Financial Corporation
Overview
Univest Bank & Trust Co. is investing in the next chapter of Consumer Banking. We have more than 40 financial centers across Pennsylvania, an expanding presence in Maryland, and clear ambitions for growth. The work ahead is to build a sales-driven retail organization that performs like a larger bank while keeping what makes Univest, Univest.
The Director of Retail Banking & Sales Strategy is a new role. Reporting to the President of Consumer Services, this leader owns the sales performance, culture, and growth of the branch network. They will install the sales discipline, coaching cadence, and talent strategy that move us from a strong community bank to a high-performing one. This is a builder’s role. It is best suited to a leader who has done this work at a larger institution and wants to bring that playbook somewhere it will visibly move the numbers.
Responsibilities
Sales Culture & Coaching Discipline
- Design and install the sales operating rhythm across the branch network - daily huddles, weekly one-on-ones, monthly business reviews, and quarterly performance check-ins.
- Build scorecards, performance management standards, and coaching frameworks that translate strategy into daily behaviors at every financial center.
- Design a talent evaluation and recruiting process in partnership with Human Resources, while shaping compensation and incentive programs that reward the right outcomes for consumer households, deposits, loans, and small business referrals.
- Embed a growth-oriented coaching model that develops talent rather than relying on checklists or compliance-style management.
- Lead the performance of all financial centers across Univest’s footprint — deposit growth, household acquisition, lending, service quality, and operational excellence.
- Diagnose and turn around underperforming branches and markets through clear performance plans, leadership development, and market-level strategy.
- Partner with Finance, Analytics, and the Rate Committee on pricing, product, and promotional execution at the branch level.
- Collaborate closely with Small Business Banking leadership to ensure financial center managers meet shared goals around small business deposits, lending, and referrals.
- Lead the operational stand-up of new financial centers, partnering with the President of Consumer Banking on site selection and market strategy.
- Build the hiring, onboarding, and training playbook for new site entry - from financial center manager through universal banker - so each new location opens with a strong team and a clear path to performance.
- Establish the early performance benchmarks and coaching cadence that set new branches up for accelerated maturity.
- Own talent acquisition for the branch network. Build, in partnership with Human Resources, a recruiting strategy that attracts and retains stronger career-minded retail bankers across all roles.
- Oversee sales training, onboarding, and coaching enablement for the branch network. Set the curriculum, standards, and delivery model in coordination with the bank’s broader Learning & Development function.
- Lead the development and succession of Financial Center Managers and Area Managers, building a deeper bench across the consumer organization.
- Partner with Innovation, Marketing, and Operations on the rollout of new systems, products, and customer-facing capabilities, ensuring the branch network is trained, aligned, and ready to execute.
Qualifications
Significant experience leading retail banking, sales strategy, or branch performance at a regional or national bank, ideally in a network larger than ours today.

Experience standing up new branches or entering new markets, including the hiring, training, and operational side of that work.
Experience leading and developing area managers or comparable multi-unit retail leaders.
Strong financial and analytical fluency. Comfortable in conversations with Finance and Analytics on pricing, product, and performance.
Clear, direct communication skills and the presence to represent Consumer Banking with senior leadership and external partners.
