POSITION SUMMARY
Assist with surgical patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or six years experience in Administrative Assistant setting.
Medical terminology or experience in health care related field.
Workplace Experience:
Peri operative Care
Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependently and independently. Standard patient care equipment for services provided. Network computer system, Meditech Order Entry Computer System.
Physical Environment:
A Surgery Unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age> ninety-nine plus years of age.
Physical Effort:
- Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Able to sit for up to twelve hours a day.
- Able to work at computer station for up to twelve hours.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Schedules cases accurately and communicates changes in schedule to the OR Coordinator
- Uses critical thinking skills to coordinate activities at the desk to include transport of patient to OR.
- Organizes patient records and paperwork for downtime activates.
- Maintains work environment and organizes unit.
- Provides clerical support. Assists in maintaining statistics and reports.
- Collaborates with appropriate health care team members to help coordinate the delivery of patient care in a timely manner.
- Assist in process for tissue tracking according to JCAHO standards.
- Demonstrates responsibility for cost containment using supplies judiciously and reviewing patient charges completely and accurately.
- Documents accurately and timely.
- Monitors and controls the OR environment, maintain traffic patterns, and adheres to OR sanitation policies.
- Maintains position specific qualifications.
- Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications.
- Assists director with special projects as needed.
