Responsibilities

  • Tax Provision & Accounting: Manage the monthly tax provision and related journal entry and prepare and review ASC 740 workpapers and supporting documentation, including current and deferred tax calculations and footnote disclosures.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns and supporting workpapers, and ensure related estimates, extensions, and returns are prepared and filed timely and accurately.
  • Year-end Tax Provision Audit w/Attest Accountants: Act as Department point person to manage the process between internal stakeholder, advisors and audit firm. Detail involvement in tax accounting issues and systems process improvement as needed.
  • Tax Research & Legislative Monitoring: Research federal, state, and local income tax issues, monitor new tax legislation, and assess its impact on the company.
  • Audit & Controversy: Respond to tax notices and assist with federal, state, and local income tax audits.
  • Tax Accounting & Reconciliations: Reconcile income tax accounts monthly and prepare tax depreciation schedules for assigned entities.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Assist with the planning, implementation, and ongoing use of ONESOURCE Tax Provision software, and identify best practices and process improvement opportunities for income tax return and tax provision processes.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Assist with the tax integration of newly acquired entities.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Manage and mentor a team of two to three tax professionals; collaborate with other departments and provide tax support as needed; work with external tax professionals and vendors on tax provision, financial statement reporting, and tax return preparation and filing; and assist in providing state annual report information to the Legal team.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Tax. Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
  • Certification: Active CPA preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of corporate income tax experience with a focus on federal and state compliance and tax provisions. Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local income tax compliance and ASC 740 tax accounting.
  • Systems: Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision software and ERP systems.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor tax staff.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate tax matters clearly to tax and non-tax stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills.
  • Collaboration: Experience working cross-functionally and with outside tax advisors and preparers.
