DIR, VIOLENCE PREV & RECOVER

Position Purpose:

The System Director of Violence Prevention & Recovery provides system-wide leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all hospital-based violence prevention and trauma recovery initiatives across Sinai Chicago. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and growing/sustaining programs that address violent injury, retaliation risk, trauma exposure, and long-term recovery. The System Director ensures consistent, high-quality service delivery across all Sinai hospitals and outpatient sites and strengthens coordination with internal departments and community partners. The position also oversees all evaluation and reporting activities.

Key Job Activities:
• Develops and implements a multi-year strategic plan for violence prevention and recovery services across the Sinai Chicago system.
• Establishes system-wide frameworks, standards, and performance expectations for hospital-based violence intervention and trauma recovery programs.
• Develops and monitors short- and long-term implementation plans aligned with the growth, viability, and future needs of the Westside Trauma & Resilience Center (WTRC) at Sinai Chicago.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging trends, policy changes, and funding opportunities.
• Grows and sustains program revenue to stabilize violence prevention and recovery services across Sinai Chicago.
• Design and launch evidence-based programs and care pathways for bedside engagement, risk assessment, safety planning, and follow-up services.
• Ensures the full integration of trauma-informed practices across Emergency Medicine, Trauma Services, Behavioral Health, Social Work, Community Violence Intervention (CVI) agencies, and other partners as needed.
• Standardizes workflows, protocols, and documentation across all sites.
• Oversees daily operations of violence prevention and recovery programs at Mount Sinai Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital, and affiliated outpatient locations.
• Ensures HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and ethical guidelines.
• Oversees incident reporting and coordination with hospital security and community partners.
• Develops and manages operational and capital budgets for violence prevention and recovery programs.
• Oversees grant management, reporting, and compliance for local, state, and federal funding streams and philanthropic donors.
• Identifies and pursues new funding opportunities to support program growth and sustainability.
• Partners with SUHI and internal analytics teams to develop a system-wide data and evaluation strategy.
• Establishes KPIs, dashboards, and outcome measures related to re-injury, service utilization, and recovery outcomes.
• Uses data to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:
• Master’s degree in public health, public administration, social work, psychology, criminal justice or a closely related field and 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in violence prevention, trauma recovery, behavioral health, community health, or related fields
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and multisite operations
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and community violence intervention models.
• Experience managing large, complex, community violence interventions, social impact initiatives, preferably in a healthcare environment
• Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, program development, data management, talent development, and partnership management
• Experience managing budgets, grants, and compliance requirements
• Familiarity with Chicago’s CVI ecosystem and safety-net health systems
• Experience with data-driven program evaluation and quality improvement
