Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Staffing Specialist is to perform assigned duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with established procedures to assure that staffing and scheduling are maintained to improve workflow, maintain positive patient outcomes, and reduce operational costs. In this position, the Staffing Specialists primary focus is to maintain adequate staffing, scheduling and support staff within Aultman Deuble Heart & Vascular Hospital (ADHVH). This position will also handle a variety of clerical, administrative and resourcing duties. The Staffing Specialist must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service always.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma required.
  • Experience interacting with computers. Uses various office production equipment including multi-line phone, copiers, fax machines, computers, and printers to complete tasks.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Answers incoming telephone calls in a professional and welcoming manner, determines purpose, notifies the appropriate team member.
  • Balancing staffing based on inpatient census and patient acuity for the inpatient departments of ADHVH.
  • Adjusting staffing and skill mix every four (4) hours based on needs that were communicated by the Charge Nurse/ Lead Nurse.
  • Assure that staffing and scheduling procedures are maintained to improve workflow and reduce operational costs.
  • Maintains and revises department schedules and is responsible for its accuracy.
  • Maintains an awareness of administrative activities, operations, and policies to accurately respond to inquiries.
  • Familiarizes self with physical layout of campus to deliver administrative materials to key staff and to offer directions to visitors.

  • Variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Subject to changes in workflow and working shifts.
  • Subject to frequent changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Lunch periods and breaks must always be coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage.

All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
