Wages

$23.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on qualifications and level of experience

Schedule

This is a regular, fully in-person position that includes flexible scheduling between 6am and 9pm. DARTS is looking to hire 2 Drivers between 32-40 hours per week, and at least 3 Drivers between 15-25 hours per week.

Job Summary

DARTS is seeking safety-minded, friendly individuals to join our team of professional drivers as CDL Drivers. Our Para-Transit Drivers provide safe, reliable transportation that helps people stay connected to their communities, whether they're traveling to work, medical appointments, shopping, or other important destinations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, including providing passenger assistance when needed.
  • Follow established schedules as routed and dispatched.
  • Maintain radio or phone contact with dispatcher and always follow radio procedures to maximize efficiency and report any schedule change to the transit office.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and follow requirements for daily logs and accident reporting.
  • Operate vehicles safely and obey all traffic laws.

What You Bring

  • You have a Class C CDL License with Passenger Endorsement (required).
  • You must be able to pass a DOT Physical and a DHS NETStudy 2.0 background check.
  • You must be able to follow DARTS' Substance Abuse Policy, which includes passing a urine drug test after a contingent job offer has been made and participating in the random drug and alcohol testing program during employment.
  • You must be able to provide a current DOT Medical Card or pass a DOT physical examination after a contingent job offer has been made and pass subsequent physicals at DOT-specified intervals throughout employment.
  • You must have and maintain a good driving record during employment as set by DOT standards.
  • You are dependable, safety-focused, and enjoy serving the public.
  • You have excellent customer service skills and can maintain client confidentiality.
  • You have the physical strength to be able to help passengers using mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, scooters, walkers). Includes bending, squatting or kneeling to secure mobility devices to the floor.
  • You are physically able to push/pull 175-400 pounds up or down inclines.
  • You have the ability to help ambulatory passengers up and down stairs.
  • You have the physical ability to exit and enter the bus with each client.
  • You have the ability to step-up approximately 20” to enter bus multiple times during shift.
  • You have the ability to physically bend over to secure wheelchairs to the floor multiple times during shift.
  • You have the ability to squat or get down on one or both knees multiple times during shift.
  • You have a desire to assist and work with older adults.
  • You must have or be able to obtain Special Transportation Services Certificated training, renewable at certain intervals, including Passenger Assistance Training, First Aid, Defensive Driving, and Maltreatment Awareness Training. DARTS will provide initial and recurrent training.
  • You have a valid driver’s license and the ability to meet DARTS’s driving record requirements, or access to reliable transportation. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit.
