At Merrimack Health, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary range is $19.31 (Min) — $28.97 hourly (Max), excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.
Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the range to support future salary growth.
As the Central Scheduler, you will be under the direction of the Coordinator and/or Manager of Patient Access. The Patient Access Services Scheduler performs a variety of complex duties for the registration and scheduling of patients for medical procedures, tests and associated ancillary services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedules patients for services, tests and procedures according to the established guidelines and criteria.
- Accurately obtains and enters appointment, demographic and insurance information into the electronic EMR during the scheduling process.
- Ability to toggle between multiple screens and utilize multiple modules simultaneously.
- Obtains and scans physician orders per protocol.
- Reviews the procedure/test to ensure it meets medical necessity guidelines, alerts ordering physician’s offices as needed, and generates a Medicare ABN as appropriate.
- Verifies patient insurance coverage via electronic-based eligibility systems.
- Complies with the insurance referral and authorization guidelines when scheduling
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year of related experience
- Computer experience to include prior EMR and Microsoft Office.
- Typing skills of approximately 45/50 words a minute
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume team-oriented environment.
- Ability to take direction and work independently.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Knowledge of medical terminology, third party payer billing and managed care requirements.
