Cantata Adult Life Services, formerly known as The British Home, is a nonprofit, mission-driven community with over 100 years of experience, offering a full continuum of care on a beautiful 10-acre campus in Brookfield, Illinois. We are seeking strong, compassionate leaders to join our team and help us continue enriching the lives of older adults through exceptional care and a vibrant community.
Position Summary:
Cantata is seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers who are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of older adults. Volunteers play an important role in helping create a warm, engaging, and supportive environment for our residents and community members.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
• Spend time visiting, socializing, and providing companionship to residents
• Assist with resident activities, games, crafts, events, and special programs
• Support recreational, gardening, music, fitness, or arts programs
• Help during community events, holiday celebrations, and family functions
• Assist at the reception desk, including answering phones, greeting visitors, directing guests, and providing general front desk support
• Support dining services by assisting with meal setup, beverage service, table preparation, and resident hospitality in the dining room
• Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as organizing activity spaces, wiping tables, tidying common areas, and preparing rooms for events
• Provide support with light maintenance-related tasks such as organizing supplies, simple outdoor cleanup, decorating, or assisting the maintenance team with non-technical duties
• Deliver friendly conversation, emotional support, and engagement to residents throughout the community
• Assist staff with non-clinical tasks and day-to-day community support as needed
Qualifications:
• Friendly, compassionate, and respectful attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Dependable and punctual
• Ability to work well with seniors and team members
• Must complete any required onboarding or background screening
Schedule:
Flexible volunteer opportunities are available weekdays, evenings, and weekends based on availability and community needs.
