You will lead technical interconnection studies, support strategic client engagements, and contribute to the advancement of grid modernization initiatives across the WECC region.
- Lead and perform complex generation and load interconnection studies aligned with ISO and utility methodologies
- Execute and oversee model benchmarking activities for generation and load projects, ensuring compliance with evolving technical requirements
- Serve as a subject matter expert on WECC interconnection standards, regulatory developments, and industry best practices
- Strengthen delivery methodologies, QA/QC frameworks, and technical standards to improve project quality and efficiency
- Mentor and develop engineering team members by providing technical guidance, coaching, and leadership support
- Act as a trusted advisor to generation developers, large load customers, and transmission stakeholders navigating the interconnection process
- Conduct technical reviews of interconnection studies, identify system risks, and recommend strategies to reduce upgrade costs and accelerate project timelines
- Translate highly technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Collaborate with senior leadership to support business growth, new service offerings, and go-to-market strategies
- Support proposal development, RFP responses, and scope creation with strong technical and commercial alignment
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, technical forums, and professional publications
The ideal candidate is a technically advanced and commercially minded power systems professional with deep expertise in WECC interconnection studies and transmission planning.
- 8+ years of experience in the electric power or energy industry
- Direct experience with CAISO, WECC, utilities within the WECC footprint, or consulting engagements supporting these entities
- Hands-on expertise with generation and load interconnection studies, transmission planning, and system analysis
- Experience with study types such as injection and deliverability studies, Transitional Cluster studies, and load interconnection analyses
- Strong knowledge of IBR modeling, load modeling, EMT studies, and generation interconnection processes
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as PSLF, PSSE, PSCAD, TARA, and ASPEN
- Strong understanding of ISO and utility interconnection standards within WECC
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- Experience with automation tools or programming languages such as Python, C#, or SQL is considered an asset
- EMT modeling and PSCAD experience are considered strong advantages
