Join Our Mission-Driven Team at The Creekside School

The Creekside School is a specialized nonpublic school serving students on the autism spectrum and students with developmental and behavioral support needs. Our team is deeply committed to creating a structured, supportive, and compassionate learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavior Specialist to join our collaborative educational team. This position works closely with the BCBA, Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Related Service Providers to support student success through evidence-based behavioral and educational practices.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about Applied Behavior Analysis, enjoys mentoring and coaching staff, and thrives in a highly collaborative school environment supporting students with moderate to severe needs.


What You’ll Do

As a Behavior Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting student safety, behavioral progress, emotional regulation, and staff implementation of individualized behavior programs.

Responsibilities include:

• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), IEP goals, and individualized behavior supports with fidelity

• Support students in developing functional communication, coping strategies, self-regulation, social-emotional skills, and independence

• Collaborate with the BCBA to develop and implement individualized behavioral programming

• Coach and support Teachers and Teaching Assistants in best practices related to behavior intervention and classroom support

• Provide ongoing staff training and consultation in Applied Behavior Analysis and positive behavior supports

• Respond to behavioral support needs throughout the school day, including crisis prevention and de-escalation support

• Assist with behavioral incident documentation, debriefing, and data collection

• Collect accurate behavioral and educational data and support progress monitoring

• Support students during classroom instruction, campus activities, and community-based learning opportunities

• Maintain a structured, safe, and positive learning environment

• Participate in IEP discussions, staff meetings, trainings, and multidisciplinary collaboration

• Promote the use of least restrictive interventions and positive behavioral approaches

Qualifications

Required:

• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field

• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental disabilities

• Experience implementing behavior intervention plans for students with significant behavioral support needs

Preferred:

• Working toward BCBA or BCaBA certification

• Experience in school, special education, or nonpublic school settings


Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and behavior intervention strategies

• Experience with crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies

• Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

• Strong data collection and documentation skills

• Ability to coach, train, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency with Google Workspace


Physical Requirements

This position involves an active school environment supporting students with varying behavioral and developmental needs. Candidates should be comfortable with:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and supporting student movement throughout the day

• Lifting and moving up to 25 pounds as needed

• Participating in Safety-Care/QBS crisis prevention and intervention training

• Responding appropriately during behavioral escalations or emergency situations
