Job Description

The Holiday Inn Central is currently seeking a remarkable Senior Maintenance Technician for our hotel located near the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington DC. We are seeking a well experienced individual for a full-time flexible schedule including evening shifts, weekends and holidays.

About the Role:

The Senior Maintenance Technician at Holiday Inn Central Washington DC plays a critical role in ensuring the hotel's facilities and equipment operate efficiently and safely to provide an exceptional guest experience. This position involves overseeing and performing complex maintenance tasks, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs, to maintain the property’s high standards. The technician will proactively identify potential issues, implement preventative maintenance programs, and respond promptly to urgent repair needs to minimize downtime. Collaboration with other hotel departments is essential to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption to guests and operations. Ultimately, this role ensures the physical environment supports the hotel’s reputation for comfort, safety, and reliability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing trades.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations such as OSHA.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation.
  • Diagnose and repair complex equipment malfunctions and facility issues promptly to minimize guest inconvenience.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs using the hotel’s management system.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and hotel policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance staff to enhance team capabilities.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests 24/7 to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

Skills:

The Senior Maintenance Technician utilizes technical skills daily to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, ensuring all hotel systems function seamlessly. Strong troubleshooting abilities enable the technician to quickly identify root causes of problems and implement effective solutions, minimizing downtime. Communication skills are essential for coordinating with hotel staff, vendors, and contractors to schedule maintenance activities and explain technical issues clearly. Organizational skills support maintaining detailed maintenance records and managing multiple tasks efficiently. Additionally, leadership and mentoring skills are applied to guide junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and skilled maintenance team.
