Join the food service team at The Seeing Eye as a Prep Cook/Utility Food Service Worker, where you will play an essential role in keeping kitchen operations running smoothly each day. This is a temporary position from June through August 2026 and maybe a little longer if necessary.
This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, hardworking, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You will support meal preparation, dishwashing, sanitation, stocking, and overall kitchen readiness while helping maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace. What You’ll Do- Prepare fruits, vegetables, salads, sandwiches, and other simple food items according to recipes, production needs, and food safety standards.
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff with ingredient setup, portioning, labeling, storage, and replenishment during meal preparation and service.
- Operate the dish machine and wash pots, pans, utensils, trays, and dishes, ensuring all items are cleaned and stored properly.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces, equipment, sinks, shelving, walk-ins, and other kitchen work areas in accordance with sanitation standards.
- Sweep and mop floors, remove trash and recycling, clean waste containers, and maintain organized utility and supply areas.
- Receive deliveries, rotate stock, store food and supplies properly, and report shortages, damaged goods, or spoiled products to supervisors.
- Follow safe food handling practices, including temperature control, cross-contamination prevention, and personal hygiene standards.
- Support opening, mid-shift, and closing duties to ensure stations are stocked, cleaned, and ready for service.
- Provide coverage for cook call-outs and vacation needs by preparing meals for service when needed.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
- Help the kitchen team stay efficient during peak service periods, shift transitions, and unexpected staffing changes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support daily food service operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous food service, kitchen prep, dishwashing, or utility experience is preferred but not required.
- Basic knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong reliability, attention to detail, and ability to stay productive in a fast-paced environment.

This role follows a rotating shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
