Job Description
The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure products, manufactured components, fabrication activities, and applicable installation work meet customer requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
This position oversees quality assurance, quality control, inspections, audits, corrective and preventive actions, supplier quality, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations and applicable construction or customer-site activities. The Quality Manager works closely with Production, Engineering, Project Management, Operations, Purchasing, and field personnel to resolve quality issues, improve processes, and promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Requirements:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and continuously improve the company's Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure products, components, fabrication processes, and applicable installation activities meet customer requirements, project specifications, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions.
- Lead internal and external quality audits and coordinate corrective actions resulting from audit findings.
- Oversee quality inspections, testing, and verification activities throughout manufacturing and applicable project or installation phases.
- Review and maintain quality documentation, inspection records, test reports, nonconformance reports, and other required project documentation.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Manage customer complaints, nonconformances, rework, and quality-related concerns through resolution.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Project Management, Purchasing, Operations, and field personnel to improve product quality and ensure project requirements are met.
- Support quality control activities at customer sites, including coordination of inspections, resolution of deficiencies, and verification of completed work when applicable.
- Establish, monitor, and report quality metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and departmental performance goals.
- Identify opportunities to reduce defects, rework, waste, and quality-related costs through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support supplier quality programs, supplier evaluations, and the resolution of supplier-related quality issues.
- Participate in new product introductions, process changes, manufacturing validations, and project quality planning.
- Ensure quality records and documentation are maintained accurately and are available for customer or regulatory review as required.
- Train, mentor, and develop quality personnel and promote quality awareness across the organization.
- Prepare quality reports, communicate significant quality risks, and present findings and improvement recommendations to management.
- Coordinate with appropriate departments to ensure quality concerns are addressed in a timely manner and do not compromise customer requirements or project deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Five or more years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, with experience in a quality leadership role preferred.
- Experience managing quality systems, inspections, audits, nonconformance processes, and corrective actions.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control methods, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to interpret customer specifications, technical documentation, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management or documentation systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other applicable quality management standards.
- Experience in construction-related manufacturing, equipment fabrication, industrial piping, installation, or semiconductor facility projects.
- Familiarity with customer-site quality requirements, inspection and test plans, material traceability, and project turnover documentation.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or a similar professional certification preferred.
- Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to walk through production areas and, when required, visit customer or construction sites.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with applicable site safety requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform occasional work in industrial or construction environments, including exposure to typical manufacturing noise and other site conditions.
