POSITION REPORTING: The YWCA Child Development Centre is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to provide one-on-one support to a child with diverse learning and developmental needs. Unlike a traditional classroom ECE role, this position focuses on supporting one child’s development, well-being, and participation in daily activities.The role involves developing an individualized program plan to support the child’s learning and development. The educator will work closely with the child’s family, relevant practitioners, and the Child Development Centre team to support the child’s progress and create opportunities for continued growth and development.POSITION REPORTING: Reports to the Manager, Child Development Centre
LOCATION: YWCA Saskatoon operates two Child Development Centres, with this position based at our 140 Wall Street location.
HOURS OF WORK: Full-time (40 hours per week); one (1) year term starting November 1st, 2026.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Planning and Support
- Provide dedicated one-on-one support to a child, promoting their well-being, independence, and participation in daily activities.Develop and implement an individualized program plan based on the child’s developmental level and learning goals, following the activity recommendations of referring professionals.Follow the daily activity schedule recommended by referring professionals.Observe and document the child’s progress to track developmental changes and identify areas for continued support.Prepare monthly progress reports outlining the child’s activities and development for the child’s file and family.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Build a collaborative relationship with the child’s family to support the child’s development.Attend the child’s therapy sessions as required, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy. Prepare brief written reports for the child’s file and share them with room staff, the family, the Inclusion Coordinator, and the Manager.Maintain the confidentiality of information relating to the child and their family.Fulfill other responsibilities to contribute to the YWCA team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Saskatchewan ECE Certification;Experience working with children that have special needs is considered an asset;Strong communication and teamwork skills;Current First-Aid and CPR Certificate; Valid Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
WAGE: $16.78 – 18.42/hr (Step 1 – Child Development Centre grid)Please note SEIU – West is the union and bargaining agent for all in-scope employees.
