Description:

The Clerk II position provides administrative and operational support for the Solid Waste Facility. This role is responsible for handling communications, maintaining regulatory documentation, assisting with state reporting requirements, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping for daily facility operations. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls; provide information to the public, vendors, and internal staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit documentation required by the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES), including grants, grant applications, and grant reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for County Council meetings and presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility operations, including pre-trip and post-trip inspection documentation for vehicles and equipment.
  • Coordinate and call in parts orders for equipment repairs and maintenance; track order status and maintain related records.
  • Organize, file, and maintain administrative records in accordance with county policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with data entry, tracking, and reporting of tonnage, usage, and operational metrics as needed.
  • Support payroll and staffing documentation as directed.
  • Communicate with site attendants and supervisors regarding scheduling, documentation, and operational needs.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two (2) years of clerical or administrative experience, preferably in a government or public works setting.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting, grants, or compliance documentation is a plus.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and lifting of files or office materials up to 50 pounds.
