Mon-Fri

Operating Hours

6am - 12am (mid-night)

PURPOSE:

Join a team that makes a difference in children's lives every day! The Classroom Teacher provides safe, nurturing, and engaging care for children ages birth to 11 years in our extended-hour childcare program. This hands-on role supports children's learning and development through daily activities, positive guidance, active supervision, family communication, and age-appropriate care. Teachers work collaboratively with the teaching team, maintain a clean and organized classroom, and help ensure a safe, welcoming, and licensing-compliant environment where every child can thrive.

Requirements:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive care, active supervision, and engaging support for children ages birth to 11.
  • Independently manage classroom operations and fulfill all duties when serving as the teacher in ratio, including single-staff classrooms permitted by licensing ratios.
  • Maintain accurate child counts, supervision zones, safe transitions, and compliance with classroom safety standards.
  • Lead daily routines, including curriculum activities, diapering/toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, nap/rest time, playground supervision, and transitions.
  • Implement lesson plans and age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with classroom leadership guidance and center standards.
  • Use positive guidance and classroom management strategies to promote appropriate behavior and resolve conflicts.
  • Complete classroom cleaning, sanitizing, organization, and opening/closing responsibilities.
  • Perform daily safety inspections of classrooms, playgrounds, and equipment, and promptly report concerns.
  • Accurately complete attendance records, meal counts, diaper logs, daily reports, incident reports, and all required licensing documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with families in person and through Brightwheel regarding daily care, developmental milestones, and concerns.
  • Support multiple classrooms by providing coverage for breaks, staffing needs, schedule adjustments, and operational demands.
  • Collaborate with teaching team members to ensure consistent, accountable, and high-quality care throughout the center.
  • Follow all center policies, Utah Child Care Licensing regulations, CACFP requirements, and health and safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and flexibility while supporting overall classroom and center operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred.
  • Confident working independently and fully managing classroom responsibilities.
  • Comfortable supporting all age groups and all classrooms as assigned.
  • Strong understanding of classroom supervision, safety, behavior guidance, and child engagement.
  • Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to complete all classroom duties.
  • Friendly, professional, dependable, and team-player.
  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check.
  • Complete all required Utah Child Care Licensing preservice and annual training requirements.
  • Maintain current CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certifications; included with employment.
  • Flexible schedule availability, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Schedule

Flexible schedule is desirable to meet needs of our extended hour facility.

Weekend and Holiday availability is a plus.

Starting Wage: $15/hour
