Full-time, 30-40 hours a week, Monday-Friday
No weekends or holidays.
Benefited position after 60-day waiting period.
JOB SUMMARY:
This is a position requiring the employee to deal with a multitude of duties, while interacting with the public in a knowledgeable, pleasant and efficient manner. This position requires excellent communication skill with teamwork attitude. Responsibilities include interacting with patients in professional caring manner requesting information and recording it with accuracy. Job duties include patient accounts, registration and scheduling. Healthcare insurance and billing knowledge is preferred. Computer inputting and accuracy skills are essential.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
· Responsible for all job duties and performance expectations outlined in the Specialty Clinic Description
· Responsible for tracking Specialty Clinic Statistics.
· Responsible for absence coverage at Rural Health Clinic.
· Responsible for communication with Veterans Administration on behalf of patients and tracking of VA patients’ available visits for the Specialty Clinic Providers.
· Responsible for maintaining adequate quantity of forms, charts, supplies, and assembling patient admission packets.
· Consults with other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs.
· Responsible to pre-register outpatient scheduled admissions for the clinic.
· Registers arriving patients for outpatient services.
o Verifies patient’s legal name and correct spelling.
o Inputs patient information via admissions software program
o Obtains necessary signature of consent for treatment and insurance forms.
o Prepares patient identification arm bands and places band on patient when appropriate.
o Make patients aware of hospital policies and procedures, to include Privacy Practice and Financial Assistance
o Obtain updated and accurate insurance and demographic information from the patients or their representative.
· Has complete working knowledge of, extension identification, business, clinical and departmental functions, location of various hospital departments and service areas, general hospital procedures and policies, along with the names of administrative, departmental and supervisory personnel.
· Calls patients prior to date of their outpatient appointments.
· Take part in quality/safety/ infection control improvement initiatives projects by observing/reporting/engaging/resolving any concerns or issues.
· Complete annual required Relias education
· All of duties as assigned.
Requirements:EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Must use good grammar and have a pleasant speaking voice with a ready smile.
- Must have good communication skills.
- Be able to type 40 wpm or more accurately.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous admissions/office experience preferred.
- Medicare knowledge and collections
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL MOTOR SKILLS: Ability to operate computer systems, talk in person on the telephone, hear in person and on the telephone, vision for close work, use of photocopier, fax machine, computer.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to interact appropriately and professionally with patients, clinic staff, physicians, hospital staff, and the general public.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Be able to Lift 20lbs. Requires setting, walking, standing, ability to be mobile, some bending, stooping, stretching and lifting, Requires eye and hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires ability to move freely within the hospital setting to conduct job duties.
