Overview
Lutron is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Trade Compliance Analyst to join our Trade Compliance team in Chihuahua, Mexico. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Lutron’s global operations by ensuring import and export activities are conducted in compliance with applicable government regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
As a Trade Compliance Analyst, you will be responsible for preparing and managing customs documentation, supporting cross-border trade operations, and ensuring the timely and compliant movement of goods. You will collaborate closely with a variety of internal and external partners, including freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and U.S. and Mexico customs authorities, as well as Lutron’s logistics, engineering, and customer service teams. This role is critical to maintaining efficient international trade processes while ensuring adherence to all import/export requirements and Lutron’s standard operating procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and Mexico import/export regulations and support cross-border trade operations.
- Manage and coordinate import and export activities, ensuring adherence to applicable government regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain strong knowledge of Mexican Annexes 22, 24, and 30 and their application to customs and trade compliance processes.
- Prepare and manage Free Trade Agreement (FTA) certificates, affidavits, and other trade-related documentation.
- Apply and maintain knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) for both Mexico and the United States, including product classification activities.
- Support and administer trade programs such as IMMEX, PROSEC, and Rule 8th, ensuring compliance with applicable requirements.
- Prepare and review customs and logistics documentation required for imports, exports, and international shipments.
- Partner closely with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and consolidation centers to facilitate compliant and efficient movement of goods.
- Coordinate and support in-bond shipment procedures and related customs requirements.
- Monitor and manage domestic and international logistics operations, identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Analyze trade, customs, and logistics data to identify trends, resolve issues, and support compliance objectives.
- Ensure compliance with machinery and equipment import regulations, including documentation, permitting, and customs requirements as applicable.
- Interface with U.S. and Mexico customs authorities, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve trade compliance issues and support operational needs.
- Support audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives related to international trade and customs processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Business, International Trade, Commerce, International Relations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, import/export operations, logistics, or a related function.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Knowledge of U.S. and Mexico import/export regulations and customs compliance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting
