Job Description

Deputy President of Legal Operations

Compensation: $500,000 annual salary

Location: San Antonio, Texas

100% On Site (not remote/not hybrid)


Large litigation firm is seeking a highly accomplished trial attorney and legal leader to serve as Deputy President of Legal Operations.

This executive-level position will work directly with the President and Vice President of Legal Operations to help oversee attorney performance, litigation standards, team development, and operational execution across the firm. The ideal candidate is a battle-tested plaintiff lawyer with deep courtroom experience, exceptional managerial judgment, and the leadership presence to step into high-level responsibility when needed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Partner with senior legal leadership to oversee day-to-day legal operations across multiple teams and offices.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and accountability to attorney managers, trial attorneys, and legal support personnel.
  • Monitor case progression, litigation readiness, and trial strategy to ensure matters are staffed, developed, and advanced appropriately.
  • Mentor and develop attorneys through hands-on coaching, performance management, and litigation leadership.
  • Assist in evaluating attorney productivity, case quality, file movement, trial preparedness, and results.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement process improvements that strengthen outcomes and consistency.
  • Step in for senior legal operations leadership as needed in internal meetings, strategic initiatives, and high-level decision-making.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on staffing, structure, departmental priorities, and performance standards.
  • Help preserve and strengthen a trial-ready culture focused on preparation, aggressive litigation, and client results.

  • Ability to analyze case trends, personnel performance, and workflow issues and make sound decisions.
  • Education & Experience

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in good standing.
  • Minimum 10+ years of litigation experience, with substantial plaintiff personal injury practice preferred.
  • Minimum 30 jury trials.
  • Prior experience managing attorneys or legal departments required.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in litigation leadership, team performance, and case outcomes.
