Summary:
Vighter is recruiting a Physician (Hospitalist / General Medicine) to serve at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at and around Fort Hood, TX. This role delivers patient-centered, evidence-based care while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and Vighter clinical policies. The Hospitalist is a medical doctor who cares for patients only while they are in the hospital. They manage daily care, order tests, and direct treatment from admission until discharge, acting as the main doctor on site instead of an outside primary care physician.

Principle Accountabilities:
- Performs diagnosis and treatment of the more complex internal medicine problems referred.
- Apply advanced professional knowledge of areas within the field of internal medicine to include, but not limited to, hematology, cardiology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, and nephrology.
- Provide inpatient consultation during normal duty hours. May be required to provide consultation outside of normal duty hours.
- Provide assessments, diagnosis, and treatment in the areas of infectious disease, allergic, metabolic, neurological endocrine, cardiac, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, hematologic, renal, musculoskeletal, emotional disorders, acute trauma, burns, and removal of foreign bodies from body orifices.
- Shall take in hospital call in rotation with other physicians.
- An unshakeable adherence to quality and continuous process improvement.
- An apolitical, patient-centered focus that drives to enhanced care and patient satisfaction
- Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must have exceptional customer service skills.
- Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements, including ability to speak, understand, read and write English fluently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
- Excellent organizational, scheduling and prioritization skills.
Education:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of practice.
- Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification as identified in the base contract
Qualifications:
- Shall possess a minimum of two (2) years of post-residency clinical experience within the last three (3) years providing direct patient care in pediatric medicine. Experience must demonstrate recent hands-on proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing pediatric patients across a broad spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical standards of practice.
Duty Hours / On-call Requirements
- Work schedules for all labor categories will range between the hours of 0530 and 2230, Sunday through Saturday, and may include days, evening, nights, weekends, training holidays, and Federal holidays. Hereinafter training and Federal holidays will be referred to as "all holidays." Shifts may be scheduled for up to 16-hour periods but will normally be scheduled for up to 12-hour periods.

- Location: Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and Community and Outlying Medical Treatment Facilities.
- Supportive team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff.
Travel:
- As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commuting is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to use an elevator or walk up & down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
- Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
- Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
- Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
- Must be a Citizen of the United States or legally authorized to work in the United States of America.
