We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our Building Systems team in Columbus, Ohio. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of structural design projects while collaborating with experienced professionals in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
As a Structural Engineer, you will contribute to the design and analysis of building systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, and public-sector projects. You will work closely with project managers, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to develop creative, practical, and code-compliant solutions for our clients.
About the Building Systems Business Unit:
Our Building Systems Business Unit delivers architecture, engineering, and planning consulting services to a diverse range of clients including financial, retail, restaurant, municipal and grocery. Our projects span from multi-unit retail spaces to schools, municipal facilities, fairgrounds, industrial sites, commercial interiors, and urban redevelopment.
- Perform structural analysis and design for building systems and related infrastructure projects
- Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, construction drawings, and specifications
- Assist with the development of design concepts and engineering solutions for new and existing structures
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders throughout all project phases
- Support project managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverable quality
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and construction observation as needed
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful projects and high-quality client service
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and professional development opportunities
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
- Experience in structural engineering or related building design required
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; candidates should be actively pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or have successfully passed the PE exam.
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software
- Proficiency in structural drafting software; experience with CAD and Revit is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes and structural design standards
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
