Senior Manager, Direct Marketing - Stewardship and Engagement

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Direct Marketing - Stewardship and Engagement in Canada.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead donor stewardship and engagement strategies that strengthen long-term relationships and drive sustainable fundraising growth. You will be responsible for designing and executing donor-centric journeys across annual, recurring, and reactivation audiences, ensuring meaningful engagement at every stage of the donor lifecycle. Working within a collaborative and mission-focused environment, you will partner with fundraising, analytics, and constituent experience teams to align stewardship efforts with broader organizational goals. The position combines strategic leadership, data-driven decision-making, and team management to improve donor retention, loyalty, and lifetime value. You will play a key role in shaping fundraising offers, optimizing engagement strategies, and translating insights into impactful programs. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced fundraising leader who is passionate about donor experience and organizational impact.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of donor stewardship and relationship cultivation strategies across annual, recurring, and lapsed donor segments.
  • Design donor journeys that align with donor motivations, behaviors, and lifecycle stages to improve retention, reactivation, and long-term engagement.
  • Develop and oversee fundraising offer strategies, including testing, optimization, and performance measurement across multiple donor audiences.
  • Collaborate with integrated campaign, annual giving, and recurring giving teams to strengthen stewardship components and ensure a consistent donor experience.
  • Partner with analytics teams to define success metrics, evaluate program performance, and translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Identify communication gaps, continuity risks, and opportunities to enhance donor confidence and loyalty across channels.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to an integrated, organization-wide approach to donor engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team by setting priorities, providing coaching, and supporting professional growth.
Requirements:
  • University degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in fundraising, donor engagement, direct marketing, or stewardship program management.
  • Proven success designing and implementing donor journeys and relationship-building strategies that improve donor retention and value.
  • Experience developing, testing, and optimizing fundraising offers for diverse donor audiences.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and insights to guide strategic decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Minimum 3 years of people management experience, including coaching, mentoring, and team development.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects, budgets, and multiple stakeholders in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Excellent understanding of donor behavior, relationship management, and donor-centric communication strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and editorial communication abilities.
