Patient Access Representative - Trimont in Trimont,, Minnesota at Windom Area Health

The Patient Access Representative serves as a centralized medical receptionist for outpatient and outreach clinics, to optimize patient flow. Registers and schedules patients by gathering accurate information while providing excellent customer service. Verifies and updates demographic, financial and insurance information as needed. May call patients to conduct pre-registration and/or appointment reminders. Provides support services to Outreach coordinators and specialty physicians, including chart prep, data retrieval and clinical organization. Provides patient assistance with completing forms and interpreter services as needed.

• Must have strong interpersonal, telephone and communication skills, be detail oriented and work well with others, promoting positive interactions between staff and patients.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology to enter orders and diagnosis for patients, as well as understand some of the tests.
• Knowledge of basic computer programs, including internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, faxing, and scanning in order to enter information on computer, and take yearly on-line training.
• Work with strong organization skills to establish work priorities and coordinate work activities in a professional manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Must have an understanding of basic medical terminology. Experience with multi-line phones, fax/copiers and a minimum of one year work experience in a medical office setting preferred. Some coursework in accounting, business, communications and information management would be helpful. Computer skills are essential.

Wage Range: $19.96 - $ 24.77 per hour

EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES: Position is generally scheduled for three (3) 10.5-hour shifts per week and two (2) 4.5-hour shifts every other weekend. Work schedules may vary and are subject to change based on department and organizational needs.
