Job Description

MAMMO/RAD TECH

  • POSITION OVERVIEW
    • The Mammo/Rad tech works under general supervision in performing a variety of diagnostic procedures according to departmental protocol, as requested by physician order. The technologist will position the patient's body part for imaging and set appropriate technical factors on the imaging equipment with a high degree of competency to ensure production of quality images for interpretation by the radiologist. The technologist will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, overtime and holidays.
    • Some of the major job functions include, but are not limited to:
      • Adheres to prescribed standards for Radiation Safety and Infection Control.
      • Provides patient and family education related to imaging procedures.
      • Utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS) and PACS.
      • Assists in training and orientation of other employees.
      • Assists with training of Radiologic Technology students.
      • Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
      • Maintains yearly AHA Healthcare Providers BLS certification, safety and infection in-services, plus adequate education hours to meet ARRT requirements.
      • Assists with coordination of patient exam scheduling.
      • Performs other job duties as requested.
      • It is the expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient-centered focus while seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes.
      • Facilitates coordination of services and manages the daily operations in the designated modality.
      • Performs procedures and demonstrate technical expertise in the designated modality.
      • Functions as the PACS superuser.
      • Maintain appropriate staff schedule for the modality.
      • Develops ongoing public relations and working relationships with the community and referring area physicians, promoting the modalities.
  • REQUIREMENTS
    • Education:
      • Graduation from an accredited program for Registered Radiologic Technologists.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 1 year radiological experience required.

    • Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
      • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications.
      • Ability to work in a stressful environment.
      • Ability to multitask and prioritize quickly.
      • Ability to perform diagnostic procedures and to meet the specific needs of various patient age groups: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
    • Credentials:
      • Current ARRT registry in good standing.
      • Current AHA Healthcare Providers BLS certification.
      • Mammography Certification required.
