Job Description
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an experienced and driven individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager - Donor Services in Columbus, GA.
This position assists regional leadership with overseeing daily operations, supporting blood collection and donor recruitment efforts, developing staff, and helping achieve operational goals throughout the region.
What You'll Do
- Assist regional leadership with overseeing blood collection and donor recruitment operations
- Support department supervisors with staff management, coaching, and daily operational needs
- Perform and maintain proficiency in phlebotomy
- Monitor recruitment goals, projections, and operational performance metrics
- Help identify operational concerns and implement corrective actions when needed
- Visit fixed sites and mobile collection locations regularly
- Communicate with regional leadership regarding operational performance and staffing concerns
- Partner with corporate departments for operational, technical, and HR support
- Meet with department supervisors to review processes and address operational issues
- Represent LifeSouth professionally within the community and promote the organization’s mission
- Attend required local, management, and corporate meetings
- Remain available for on-call responsibilities as needed
- Maintain reliable transportation
What We're Looking For
- Previous management or supervisory experience required
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to build effective working relationships with coworkers and the public
- Ability to manage time, priorities, and operational responsibilities effectively
- Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing
- Ability to prepare concise and informative reports
- Knowledge of management principles, budgeting, personnel management, and operational procedures
- Valid driver’s license required and must meet LifeSouth driver eligibility requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Previous blood banking experience preferred
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) strongly preferred

Our Mission
To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
