Position Summary:
The Inside Sales Representative is a key member of Burloak Technologies' commercial team, supporting the sales function through quoting, customer account management, CRM administration, and commercial reporting. Reporting to the Director, Business Development, this role is responsible for coordinating routine and repeat quotations, maintaining CRM data integrity, tracking sales performance metrics, and serving as the primary point of contact for a defined portfolio of customer accounts.
By delivering accurate, timely, and well-organized commercial support, the Inside Sales Representative enables the broader sales team to focus on strategic initiatives, complex opportunities, and business development activities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and collaborates effectively with both customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Quoting and Sales Support
- Prepare and issue accurate quotations for straightforward and repeat customer requests, ensuring quotes are completed on time, priced correctly, and presented in a clear and professional format.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations with customers, providing status updates, answering basic technical or commercial questions.
- Support the Business Development Manager and Director, Business Development in preparing complex quotations and proposals, coordinating input from operations and engineering as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Process repeat orders and manage order entry activities for assigned accounts, ensuring smooth handover to operations and that customer delivery requirements are clearly communicated and confirmed.
Account Ownership
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for a defined portfolio of customer accounts, managing day-to-day communication, order activity, and relationship maintenance to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Monitor account activity for assigned customers, identifying changes in ordering patterns, potential growth opportunities, or risks.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with contacts at assigned accounts, responding promptly to inquiries, resolving routine issues, and escalating more complex situations to the appropriate team member.
CRM Management and Commercial Metrics
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records across the commercial team, ensuring all customer interactions, quotation activity, pipeline stages, and account notes are documented consistently and on time.
- Identify and flag data gaps, inconsistencies, or process inefficiencies within the CRM and commercial reporting systems, recommending improvements to enhance team visibility and reporting accuracy.
- Contribute to the preparation of weekly sales call materials and monthly leadership updates by compiling pipeline data, quoting activity summaries, and account-level performance information, as required.
Lead Management and Incoming Inquiries
- Manage and triage incoming leads from marketing channels, website inquiries, and other sources, qualifying opportunities and routing them to the appropriate team member based on complexity, size, and strategic fit.
- Respond promptly to straightforward incoming inquiries, providing customers with accurate information about Burloak’s capabilities, lead times, and quoting processes, and ensuring a professional first impression at every touchpoint.
- Ensure all new leads are entered into the CRM promptly and assigned to the correct owner, maintaining a complete and accurate record of all incoming commercial activity.
Cross-Functional Support and Team Contribution
- Work collaboratively with operations, planning, and engineering teams to gather information needed for quotations, confirm lead times, and ensure that customer commitments made during the sales process are operationally achievable.
- Support the commercial team with administrative and coordination tasks related to customer proposals, trade show preparation, marketing material updates, and other commercial activities as required.
- Uphold Burloak’s commercial standards and company policies in all customer interactions, representing the organization professionally and contributing positively to team culture and overall commercial performance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in an inside sales, customer service, or commercial support role, preferably within a manufacturing or technical B2B environment.
- Experience preparing and managing quotations, processing customer orders, and supporting account management activities in a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms for data entry, opportunity tracking, and reporting; experience with Salesforce or similar systems is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle a high volume of concurrent tasks accurately and without losing responsiveness to customers or internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to compile, track, and present commercial data clearly, with a comfort working with metrics, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach to all interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Industry Knowledge
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or technical sales environment is preferred.
- A general understanding of additive manufacturing or precision machining processes and how they relate to customer requirements is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing supply chains is an asset.
Education and Professional Attributes
- A college diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience in a commercial or customer-facing role will be considered.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and process discipline, with a commitment to accuracy in quoting, CRM documentation, and commercial reporting.
- A proactive and responsive communicator who takes ownership of assigned accounts and tasks, follows through reliably on commitments, and keeps the team informed of progress and issues.
- A collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues across commercial, operations, and engineering functions, contributing positively to a high-performing sales environment.
- Motivated by growth and development, with an interest in building commercial knowledge and progressing toward account management or field sales responsibilities over time.
Pay Range:
The expected base salary range for this position is $68,000 - $85,500 CAD annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, education, and qualifications. This position is also eligible to participate in the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
