Job Description

Purpose of the Position:

We are currently looking for a passionate, high-calibre candidate to support the organisation and coordination of the annual fundraising campaign, Operation Santa Claus (OSC). The candidate will report to the Senior Manager, and play an active role in serving the community of Hong Kong, working closely with NGOs and beneficiaries, as well as collaborating and engaging with partners and donors.

Operation Santa Claus (OSC), a homegrown flagship annual fundraising drive jointly established by SCMP and RTHK in 1988, has grown from modest beginnings to become one of Hong Kong’s most recognised charity initiatives. It connects thousands of partners, fostering philanthropy, with its legacy continued by SCMP Charities Limited, a tax exempted charitable institute under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (File No.: 91/7320).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the conceptualisation, planning, and execution of the annual OSC fundraising campaign. Collaboratively plan and execute major partner events (e.g. 5-a-side football tournament) & promotion, partner co-ordination, organize & support fundraising activities (e.g. White Xmas Street Fair).
  • Create and update impact assessment tools and guidelines (including the Theory of Change framework) to evaluate charity partners' mid-progress and final reports. Produce the OSC Annual Report and related materials to clearly demonstrate the tangible impact of OSC’s journey of giving to stakeholders.
  • Actively meet with potential corporate donors, strategic partners, and stakeholders to pitch collaboration opportunities and prepare tailored, high-quality proposals.
  • Build close relationships with schools and universities to promote Fun4Funds Challenge and MBA challenge to unlock the city’s spirit of giving in different ways
  • Build relationships with current donors, stakeholders and partners; maintain regular visits to stay abreast with their programmes and CSR initiatives ; Cultivate relationships with new partners from schools, educational institutions and other business sectors to support donation drive
  • Develop close relationships with and maintain reporting line with grantees, including the dissemination of information and other administrative tasks such as fund disbursement and applications for funding proposal
  • Recruit, manage and coordinate the work of corporate volunteers.
  • Supervise and mentor year-round university interns, leveraging their insights to support daily operations.
  • Create engaging content for OSC social media accounts (including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn) and oversee the UX/UI development of the OSC website to ensure a seamless and user-friendly digital experience. (e.g. SCMP print ads submission, and managing exhibition booths at major events e.g. at ISF/ DEI summit, editorial coverages)

Job Requirements:

  • Degree holder in any discipline
  • A at least 3-5 years’ experience in project management and relationship building, non-profit management or have worked in an NGO or a charity organisation. This includes fundraising, strong donor relations, community relations, volunteerism and charitable experience
  • Solid understanding of how to measure programme efficacy, including experience with impact frameworks (e.g., Theory of Change) and drafting comprehensive progress or annual reports is recommended
  • Keen interest and a strong passion for charity issues
  • Ability to establish trusting relationships and understand the needs of our partners and articulate them back to the team; having an affinity to collaborate across departments and external organisations
  • A self-starter demonstrate strong project management, financial and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workloads
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Chinese and English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva and G-Suite

Work location will be at Causeway Bay office
