As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a key role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical database environments that support high-impact business operations. This position combines hands-on database administration with strategic collaboration across engineering and cloud teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational resilience. You will work with modern cloud technologies, optimize database performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to long-term infrastructure improvements. - Manage the health, availability, performance, and security of SQL Server and MySQL database environments across on-premises and AWS infrastructure.
- Monitor database operations, backups, maintenance tasks, and system performance to proactively identify and resolve issues within established service levels.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex database incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and workload optimization.
- Collaborate with cloud, application development, and engineering teams to support scalable deployments, database architecture improvements, and performance initiatives.
- Deploy and maintain database objects including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and other database components across multiple environments.
- Help define and maintain database security standards, operational best practices, and resiliency initiatives while participating in a 24/7 on-call support rotation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of experience administering SQL Server databases in production environments.
- Strong expertise in database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and high-availability/disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience analyzing execution plans, database logs, and performance metrics to resolve complex database issues.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing database objects across multiple environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
- Experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, CloudWatch), automation scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, CLI), NoSQL technologies, very large databases (VLDBs), or database monitoring platforms is considered a strong advantage.
- Relevant database or cloud certifications are a plus.
