Job Title: Director of Business Development

Job Summary:
A Director of Business Development (DBD) is responsible for driving revenue and market share by developing and executing strategies for growth, building and nurturing relationships with key referral sources, and expanding the organization's presence in the community. The role involves overseeing marketing efforts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting the hospice's services to healthcare providers and the community.
This position is subject to a post-offer background check in accordance with applicable laws. The background check is limited to information relevant to the essential duties of this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans to increase hospice admissions and expand market presence.
- Cultivate strong relationships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, and other community partners to generate patient referrals.
- Identify and cultivate referral opportunities and develop new business.
- Monitor local healthcare trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
- Develop and deliver educational presentations, in-services, and marketing materials to promote hospice services.
- Ensure business development activities align with all relevant state and federal regulations governing hospice care.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business development initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree is not required.
A minimum of 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in business development or sales leadership, with a proven record of accomplishment of growing patient census.
Experience in sales and marketing within the hospice or home health industry.
Experience in the hospice or home health sector with an understanding of the hospice model, its philosophy, and its regulatory framework.
Understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing hospice operations including Medicare.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to build rapport with referral sources and the community.

Able to read printed materials and a computer screen.
Able to hear and speak to communicate in person and over the telephone.
TRAVEL DEMANDS:
Travel is required for referral or facility visits or meetings.
Occasional travel for educational purposes.
