Security Officer in Palm Beach, Florida at HENRY MORRISON FLAGLER MUSEUM

The Security Officer is responsible for protecting the Flagler Museum’s property, staff, and visitors by implementing and maintaining effective security protocols. This role requires strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and excellent customer service skills. The position involves weekend and evening shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Enforce and follow all museum security protocols and procedures.
• Take proactive steps to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and visitors.
• Monitor security camera systems and respond appropriately to activity.
• Control access to restricted and sensitive areas.
• Conduct regular patrols and security inspections of assigned areas.
• Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a strong security presence.
• Remain calm and effectively manage incidents or emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
• Familiar with fire panel systems
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to respond to and manage crisis situations calmly and professionally.
• Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of five years of professional security experience.
• Valid and active Class D Security License required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit for extended periods and operate a computer.
• Must be able to lift 20–40 pounds.
• Ability to walk and patrol throughout various museum areas, including stairs and outdoor spaces.
